Struggles of being in groups
In one of my classes my professor put us into groups with other students that they think we will work good with. We've had the same group since the beginning of the semester. The first project went well. I wasn't worried about whether or not we would finish it on time. We communicated very well and aced the project and presentation. Unfortunately I feel like our communication has gone down the drain for this new project. Our project is due Friday and we still have to finish our ten page research essay, powerpoint, printing out all the pages and putting it into our book and preparing for our presentation thats on Monday. Im nervous because theres so much to do and I don't know if we'll be able to finish it on time. I try to be the one to remind them without being THAT person who bothers everyone but its a group grade so if they fail then I fail. I can't let that happen. Every-time I talk to my group members they either don't listen or say that they have other homework and won't be able to do it. When we meet up for our group minutes some of my group members are always in a rush to finish and leave. Its like they don't wanna be there. We live in different cities so its hard to plan meeting days. I think thats my biggest struggle this semester. Being in groups with complete strangers not knowing if they're gonna do their part of the work like their supposed to. Its different in high school because you're more likely to get someone in your group that you had class with in the 4 years. Or you're grouped with your friends.
Yea, being in groups can sometimes be hassle, especially when its graded as a group rather than individually. Some people might not care as much so they don't put any effort in. Thats why I sometimes rather work alone with certain assignments depending on the class.
